Thanks scot but I've done them before Tongue
I wouldn't say I am a beginner. I've even made my own pattern and made a dress which is stunning and I wear all the time. Just the McCalls 5232 has caught me out XD

Some patterns are possessed. Good luck!

I made a McCalls 5232 dress last fall and yeah, it does have some weirdness to it, particularly in the chest area. But the pattern itself is a good basic one to have in your collection and frankenpattern into other things in the future.

I have some hot weather sewing planned. I shall share it when I'm done.

Ooh, I wish I'd have known about this sooner!  This is turning into the summer of maxi dresses for me.  So far I've made two, one was a recon, and the other was Frankensteined out of two failed projects, and I'm just into a third, which is being re-built out of an old costume that never really served its purpose anyway.  I don't think I can justify a fourth long dress, though I wear the first two every weekend, but there will definitely be more summer sewing in the next few months!

Your fabric choice for this was great!
The picture on the Simplicity pattern envelope gives the impression of a frumpy dress, but yours looks gorgeous.

I totally LOVE those apron tops! That's something on my looooooong "list of things to try," LOL!

Unfortunately, I have no further progress to show on my Hawaiian print dress. I got it together to the point of simply needing a hem, only to realize the back neckline gapes ABOMINABLY! ACK! Being a busy little bee with a new job, I haven't had the time/motivation to take apart the facing and zipper to fix it. And I'm totally annoyed that I did all the same alterations as to my first dress, and yet now my back panels are going to be off-grain once I fix it, grrrrrr...

Anyways, I'm totally loving the various summer clothing projects on the board lately! I hope some of them get cross-posted in here just for referencing.
