Hi guys I'm new to the site although a long time lurker.

I am in the process of collecting ideas for my 5 yr old sons bedroom.  He is super Mario mad so the theme is easy Smiley

I am making a super Mario quilt for starters and thought it would really finish his bed off if we had a nice Mario themed headboard.

I didn't want anything too complicated, my o/h will be cutting the shape out of mdf and I shall be priming and painting and I have to say I am not the most skilled with a paint brush!!!

Do you guys have any ideas for a simple yet 'Mario' headboard?

I would do a mushroom. The shape is really simple and it is defiantly Mario.

The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. . . . I would rather have cheese.

I would do the question boxes...you could have a rectangular headboard with 2 question boxes side by side. Easy to cut out and paint, and definitely Mario!

We are doing a Super Mario Bros. themed room, too.  I am getting a headboard from my SIL that is rounded on the top.  It is a ugly black and gold thing, but I'm going for a mushroom for DS1. I am gonna paint it red, then paint or contact paper white circles for the dots.  Easy peasy, as I have pretty much no artist skills.

I too have a 5 year old son who is BONKERS for Mario. I am just starting to redecorate his room. I would love to swap ideas with you. I am guessing you have already finished with your son's headboard. We already have a bookshelf type headboard (rectangle) so I am going to paint bricks. You mentioned you are making a quilt. Did you find Mario print fabric somewhere? If so, please, please, please would you let me know where? I have looked and looked. Thanks!

If you needed storage or a nightstand, you could use yellow or orange cubes and paint them to look like Mario blocks, like so: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/119/314562218_fe51d2451f.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/subtlecontradiction/314562218/&h=373&w=500&sz=46&tbnid=F0rdJlney0FZ8M:&tbnh=97&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmario%2Bblocks&hl=en&usg=__7dG683t5M4D1EvK4H2raRFm2Y0Y=&sa=X&ei=v_9ATOHCJ8GB8ga61M2hDw&ved=0CBsQ9QEwAQ
