Portrait embroidered with cotton, silk, and linen floss on a repurposed USAF dress blues shirt. Measures 11" by 14".

Mikhail Kalashnikov invented the AK47.  As a military wife in the middle of an agonizingly long war, I have worked on military themed art for the last few years.  I know I should put this is Needlework, but I have worked for years to transcend craft and create fine art with the medium.  I hope you'll let me stay.

Wow, I am blown away, that is really beautiful. I'd love to see a close up of the stitches.

Thanks.  I don't know sometimes if I fit into Art or Craft, but I want to be considered Art at this point in my life.   Wink

Wow. That looks like real hair. And the colours you used in the skin, and the stitches... it's amazing.

I really like that second image. It appeals to me much more than the top one. Lovely stitching.

I wouldn't be concerned with the art/craft thing. People will label you as they see fit and it doesn't impact on your work one bit. There are lovely pieces of art on the needlework board, it's really just referring to the medium. Also, some people put their work on the art board and justify why it is art - art doesn't need justification. Just let it be and it will be.

As you keep working please show us the results.

Yeah, that's my issue.  I guess I should just shut up about it.  Thanks for the input.  I needed to hear that.

I think you belong right here. That is wonderful. I love the way you have blended the colors. You are definately art.

NEW REQUEST: Need quilting fabric with ONLY purple, grey, green. Solids or Prints in any combination/shades, but NO OTHER COLORS ALLOWED. HELP! They are hard to find.

I absolutely adore it. I am pretty sure my Daddy knew him. My Daddy was a gunsmith. Sweetie, it's Craftster. We love everything. I think your theme is wonderful. I grew up in a gun family and I would in a snap make something like this for my Father.  I can't wait to see what else you make.
