I'm gradually doing over my entire house, and have previously posted about my bathroom renovation https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=317053.msg3650989#msg3650989. I finally got my living room about 95% done, or in other words far enough along that I could take "after" photos. Here they are, with the "before" photos, and commentary.

I (re)named this post what I did because a number of people have told me how much the turquoise with ivory trim colour scheme reminded them of the classic Tiffany box. I did all the work to this room myself: repairing, priming and painting the ceiling, installing two chandeliers, repairing, prepping, priming and painting the walls, mantlepiece, firebox, trim and doors, polishing the floor, hanging one new door, installing two new doorknobs and new curtain hardware, altering and hanging two sets of curtains, reupholstering three pieces of furniture, retiling the fireplace surround, and replacing three electrical outlets and the light switch plates. Hope you find the photos and commentary interesting and worth a look!

You did an awesome job fixing your house! I know how aggravating it is to go behind someone who didn't know what the heck they were doing. My husband and I find little quirks in our house all of the time too. I love the color you chose for the walls and your cat is beautiful.

The turquoise is a Behr paint in the "Sea Life" shade. You can see a sample of it here:

The cream paint I used on the trim and mantelpiece is a Home Hardware tone I originally bought years ago to use in the condo I owned before I bought my house, and I just keep having more made up, usually in Behr, from the paint chips. No biggie, of course - if you want to recreate the look, any ivory paint that you like will do.

You'll get no grief from me for painting solid mahogany.  You made such an amazing transformation with that mantle piece, it's so beautiful now and adds such character to the room compared to the eye sore it looked like before.  You did a great job with everything.  I can tell you had to think over everything very carefully with such a small space.

I love the color! I too hate having to go behind and undo bad work so I can make my house pretty but in the end it's so much better!
