Looking for public places to hang out and knit. Does anyone have any good suggestions? General Twin Cities area.

What sort of places are you looking for? Park, restaurant, coffee house?

I generally knit whenever and wherever. If I can find a comfy place to sit, I'll knit for a while.

I believe the Culver's in Monticello has a monthly or biweekly knitting club. That's more sub-suburbs than Cities though.
If the south metro would be better, I can ask my granma - she's in a quilting group that meets up at a coffee shop, and I know she's got friends that are into knitting.

live in the MN metro? I'm always up for craft meets!

Rudy's Coffee House in St. Paul, there is always one or several people knitting / crocheting.  Conversation on projects is inevitable.  Also, Groundswell in St.Paul Midway has knitters in most of the time, as it is connected to Borealis Yarn.  Crafty Planet also has a stitch n' bitch on a regular basis.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I live in St. Paul, but frequent eastern suburbs and also the Minneapolis area. Just looking for knitting friendly coffee, cafe or wherevers. I used to live just down the street from Borealis, and would pick up a skein or two from there back in the day, but I don't remember Groundswells - I'll have to check that out. Briemarie - where is Crafty Planet?

I also found out that Merlin's Pub has a drunken knitting night and Anodyne Coffeehouse has a community scarf that you can add onto in Minneapolis. Have yet to do the drunken knitting but added on a bit to the community scarf - cool idea!

Crafty planet is at 2833 Johnson Street NE in Minneapolis and they also have a little online store.  I'm moving from the suburbs to Dinky Town in September and I'm sure I'm going to need a place to get some quiet time from my 4 roommates.  Anyone know of good places biking/bus distance from University & 8th (near the 35 ramp) ?

The Coffee Grounds in St Paul, near Como, is very craft-friendly. We've had meet-ups there before, and Dave, aka One Daddio, who is in there a lot and on their art board, is a Craftster member.
