I got this book handed down to me from a friend of mine, it's called "Designing Apparel Through The Flat Pattern", and it is freaking amazing. My friend's mom saved it from a bunch of books she found boxed up next to a dumpster behind a big university here.

I just finished my first complete pattern based on the instructions therein, and this is what I came up with. The fabric is new, but the trims and buttons were salvaged from other garments. It has a kind of vintage-y feel to it, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Front (it doesn't fit perfectly in the bodice, but maybe she'll grow into it?):

Pocket detail:

Thanks for looking! Constructive criticism always appreciated!

It's very cute. The two pockets with buttons kinda look like a one-eyed smiley face so I think you should maybe outline the entire pocket?
