Does anybody know of a lowpriced online fabric store that is located in (or shipps from) Europe? I've found some pretty reasonable priced fabric in online stores in USA but the postage would cost me more than if I buy fabric here...

Until recently we had quite some textile industry here and man could buy "ofcuts or fabric with mistakes" fairly cheap (and the mistakes were usually not very obvious and in most cases really small and you usually didn't get that meter of fabric where the mistake was so it was really good deal - you basicaly bought good fabric for less money). But now with the recessy the fabric closed and the stores don't carry "fabric per kg" anymore. So I'm looking for alternatives. I've checked some online stores in EU but they are really high priced and I can't afford that. Does anybody know of any EU situated low priced online fabric store? I'd be really grateful!

Thank you very much!

I find it relatively difficult to find cheap fabric online based in Europe - I usually get all my 'good stuff' from US sites, as it's hella cheaper buying it from there than it is here! For all my basic lining and bits, I go hit up the charity shops. But I find these sites pretty good for fabric in the UK:

Yeah, they're on Ebay, but they are good value for money and they have stupidly fast postage. Smiley Hope that helps! Smiley -x-

No, really, we don't - as far as I know (and I've asked a lot...) There was one for kids clothing and one for adults but both were really pricey so nobody bought much and they both ran out of business. Also no charity shops here, whatsoever - I'm pretty sure about that because I did some charity work a while ago... Just not that kind of sistem here...
We have a flee market once a month but things there are just not usable - like old keys, totally damaged piping,... Anything with any value is more expencive than in the store. And no clothes or fabric there...

Thank you very very much! The fabrics are beauuuuuutiful! I'm in love already!
Do you have any idea how much does the postage come (I live in EU, though a little country)?

i'm german but livin in the UK now. there are so many charity shops and 2nd hand shops here, but it is quite hard to find any in Germany. like Veri said, there are some fleemarkets but that's it. no thrift stores or charity shops.

have a look at myfabrics.co.uk - they are based in Hamburg, i think they are not too cheap but sometimes you can get some nice bargains. and they send you free samples. and they deliver for not too expensive cross Europe.

I found this thread through the search function, because it's something that bothers me a lot too! so even though the thread is old, I'm gonna add a few links I know in case it helps someone out:

These are all based on the UK:

In Spain:
http://www.tiendatelas.com/  this one is the web of a very well known brick and mortar store in Barcelona, but unfortunately the web is only in Spanish

Mind you, the situation of the US dollar in relation to the Euro at the moment makes it very cheap for us Europeans to buy from the States! Grin
