A few weeks ago my former roomie teased me with this amazing Hobbes plushie he had made for Emerald City Comic Con, and I decided that my darling Hubbs (who has been enamored with Calvin and Hobbes since he was a wee lad) deserved one.

Only problem is, I had NO idea how to sew.  So I did some interneting and dug up a sewing kit that I'm pretty sure said former roomie left behind and came up with this guy ..

How I went from Hobbes to that, the world may never know.

Hubbs immediately declared I must be some sort of crafting genius (aha, aha) and went out and bought me a sewing machine, 5 lbs of polyfil, and I'm pretty sure half of the crafting store, and after staring at the sewing machine for a week in fear, I got to work, and created these!

I gave this one to a friend before I could get a good picture, so I had her snap one quick

This one is huge, like 2 ft. tall .. I got a little carried away, oops Wink

I felt brave and did "Griffster" with felt and that fake fur stuff .. that stuff gets EVERYWHERE!

Anyway, I'm having lots of fun creating these little creatures and figuring things out as I go and just thought I'd share Smiley  Thanks for looking and if you have any suggestions or tips please share!

hehe, these are cute!

I love personal swaps, I currently need art (paintings or something to hang on a wall) but I'd be up for anything.

WOW! great job! especially since you "weren't" a sewer. keep going!! sooner or later your hubby will say what mine did a couple of years after he bought me my sewing machine " i wish i would have given you a diamond, it would have cost less in the long run & wouldn't have taken up a whole room" XD (but he's still the first one to say " ohh i saw this fabric, pattern, thread... you would love, lets go get it!"
