Jesus Cookies

This previous Xmas I decided to forgo the watching of Xmas related movies on Xmas day. Enough is enough already people!!

So, I decided to start a new tradition of celebrating Jesus's Bday by watching 'Jesus Christ Superstar'.

Therefore I spent part of Xmas eve making Jesus cookies to enjoy the next day whilst singing along to the musical stylings of Jesus and the Apostles.






Anyway, here we go...


Step one: make shortbread using Mom's Super Awesome Secret Shortbread recipe. Fold and roll dough a bunch of times for extra flaky cookies. Cut into circles (I used a cup). Place on cookie sheets.


Step two: Find Jesus pic online, preferably one that is in silhouette (I used this one  http://www.classic-creations-religious-jewelry.com/stores/xq/xfm/store_id.684/page_id.23/Item_ID.89464/White-Gold-Face%2FJesus-Silhouette-Medal-Pendant/qx/store.htm )

Play with pic in paint program. Print.


Step three: Painstakingly cut out picture. Leave little tab on top to fold upwards for a handle.


Step four: Place stencil on cookie. Sprinkle with powdered whatever. I used nesquik powder (Woo Jesus is black!) Bake as per recipe instructions.


Step five: Watch Jesus Christ Superstar and eat FREAKIN AWESOME cookies. Mmmm, Jesus tastes like shortbread!

Ironically enough, I often say things "taste like Jesus" when there are no other words to describe the deliciousness.....but I never thought of putting his face on my food. Very clever!

  ya know...if you put one on ebay and say you found it on a sugar cookie...you could probably make a killing AND get on the national news!
