It's a little late, but we did actually eat this pie on Pi Day (Sunday, 3.14) I have been meaning to make a Pi Day pie for many years, and finally this year I had enough forethought to gather all the ingredients and be ready. I'm pretty sure I've never made a fruit pie before, and next time I make one I will be sure to take the time to make my own pie crust. That store bought stuff is pretty gross. Undecided It's blackberry, 36 ounces of fresh fruit mixed with some sugar and flour. Very easy recipe, and pretty good, but I think the not-so-good crust definitely ruined it a bit.

You can see that I was a little overzealous with brushing the top with egg. Roll Eyes I had too much left and I didn't want to just dump it out! Grin

Love IT!  My daughter's math teacher wanted everybody to bring in a pie on the friday before the 14th.  I was like WTF? How many freaking pies do you need?  hahahaa.  I hear you about the leftover egg...I always just pop in the microwave for a minute and feed it to my dogs.  2 little chihuahuas split one egg pretty nicely!  And I wonder what knd of crust you're using...I usually iuse the Great Value (Walmart brand) or Pilsbury and they're awesome!  I will never make a scratch pie crust again!  Good job though and I like the Pi symbol you put on it.

I love the pi symbol on the crust. You're right, though, the store bought stuff is terrible, especially if you've had homemade. My favorite to make is a cream cheese crust that's perfect for fruit pies.

I remember when I took Algebra my freshmen year (I was stuck in Algebra land through most of HS...stupid school messed me up with Math, but that's a different story), my teacher had us bring in pies for Pi Day.  That was awesome.  YAY Pi Day!  It's just as awesome as Mole Day!
