I just finished piecing all the blocks together that everyone sent me and I freaking LOVE this quilt top. Thank you, everybody!

I'm thinking about putting a border on it. I'll take some daytime pictures tomorrow and post them so you all can help me figure out what color border I should put on it.

This swap is officially complete! All 80 packages have been received (ok, slightly less than 80 packages for those who were able to combine shipping in multiple groups)! Please continue to post finished quilts/quilt tops, we would all love to see what you come up with!

If you haven't filled out the surveys I posted, I hope you are able to take a minute and do so. Thank you!

That does it! Mare....you're just evil woman!

I'm going to have to get back into quilting.

I grew up doing old school symmetrical and embroidered quilting. All of the blocks in this swap are AMAZING! The wonky houses have me completely intrigued and the way the colors came to together in all of the pieced tops is simply beautiful.

Ok, I'm now going to be playing with this over the summer so I can join an upcoming round. Smiley

Anybody know if I can get extra hours in a day at WalMart?

Pics as promised:

First off, while waiting for all my quilt blocks here, I started making some wonky house blocks for myself to turn them into pillows. So far, only one of them has become a pillow:

Yesterday I put together the quilt top of the blocks everyone sent me.

One lovely lady sent beautiful string squares, which I turned into Scrappy Xs by cutting off some corners:

I wrestled with doing this because A) I wasn't sure I could make them into the right size and B) I really do want a string square quilt one of these days. But it worked out great as you can see below:

It is gorgeous and super cute just as it is, but, since there was no sashing, I would like to make it bigger by adding a border. I was thinking of incorporating the corners I saved from the string blocks and also another one of my partners sent along a bit of extra fabric that I can use, too.

Would a solid white border look good? That's what I've been thinking of doing then adding another border around that with the corners and colored fabric. I will play around with it in photoshop I guess. That might help me figure it out.

OOh that turned out really well. I kind of think a flying geese border might be cute too! Or a thin solid border and then some kind of pieced border.

Maybe a solid white strip and then a flying geese strip, followed by another white strip?

I'm thinking outside the box for my squares, but I don't know if my idea is going to be overwhelming or not...

Maybe a pieced border of strips could be pretty.

I love the flying geese idea and the pieced border of strips idea, too. I think I will do both! Thanks, ladies!

Love your work craftminded! Whatever you decide for the borders, looks like a great quilt Smiley

And I love that wonky house pillow, the black background looks awesome!

I'm so going to have to try a strip X quilt!  They are so cute!

I'm sewing borders on all my wonky log cabins & then I'll put the quilt top together & post a pic.  I did finish my baby quilt top this weekend tho.

I'm saving the actual quilting for a longarm class.
