During a vintage thrift store shopping spree my daughter found this formal dress with jacket. It looks like something that Carol Bernett would have worn on the opening of her comedy show back in the day.
It as a bit too long and a tad too loose one her.

I cut off the bottom to make it  above the knee in  length and also added a few darts to tighten up the bodice for her. So this 70's dream dress got revamped to a more moden dress.

The jacket was already awesome so I didn't do anything to it.


I took the excess from the bottom of the black dress with some left over fabric from a former recon to make another dress.
I just made a casing for wide elastic to go around the top. My machine hates double stretch fabrics and gives me fits when I try to do the gathering (I discovered the best trick ever.......using elastic thread). So I ran a round the bottom bodice with the elastic thread and also the top of the skirt to gather it then sewed the two together.

OWHhh i like the dress , the green color . very nice  what kind of cloth did you use at the upper part, the color green .
