Late Arrival (by Mister Reusch)

« on: February 28, 2010 09:52:20 PM »

If you're one of those people who has a huge list of items to make, a big bag of planned patterns, or a bad tendency to "forget" to make things for yourself when you're immersed in swaps. . .  this swap is for you! The difference in this swap is that you arent just making something for your swap partner, youre also making the same thing for yourself.
Swap name: One for Me, One for You - Take 2
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: psyche
Sign-up date range: March 1 - March 14, 2010
Date to send item by: May 3, 2010

Limited to a certain number of people? As of now, yes: 24.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? No
Age requirement: 16 (as all swaps)

Swap Organizer meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES
- Is at least 18 years old: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES
- Participant has agreed that he/she is at least 16 years old: YES
- If within the US, understands that Delivery Confirmation number is required for this swap: YES/NO
- If outside the US, understands that a mailing receipt copy is required for this swap: YES/NO

It works like this you make TWO lists. #1: Things youve been wanting (needing, dying) to make. #2: Things youd like to receive. You post both of these lists together in this thread. As more people post lists, and more options circulate, you may find yourself wanting to add to your lists! Go for it, its part of the fun. (How-to? Go to your post, hit Modify in the top right corner, and edit away).  In the end I will do my best to match up people who want to make something with people who want to receive it. You can choose to have one or two partners.

The items on the lists should basically be LARGE items, 4-6 hours in working time. However, if you want to post slightly smaller items (in working time, not physical size) or sets of items, you can post them too, and Ill still do my best to match you and your partner(s).

You do need access to a camera to participate in this swap --> remember, we want to see a picture of  what you made for yourself, too!

** Do not post anything BUT your lists in this thread until partners have been assigned. If you want to chat about the swap, go here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=332563.0 to the New Swap Ideas thread.
**AFTER partners are posted, and since we have a long crafting time please drop by at least weekly to say something in this thread , or at least PM your organizer (me, psyche!) to let us know youre alive and crafting.

Name of Swap: One for Me, One for You Take 2
Craftster user name:
Email address:
Your real name and Mailing address including the country:
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm you are at least 16 years old:
Do you want one or two partners(SORRY: First-time swappers, one only)?
Do you have access to a camera and are you committed to posting pictures?
Do you solemnly swear to stay active in this swap and have fun with it?

Is there something that you would NOT like to receive?
Are you allergic or have aversions to anything?
Do you smoke or have any common allergens in your house?
Anything else you might like to tell your partner?

Things I'd like to make:

*poppets!  (half or full sized, all kinds of fun modifications negotiable)
*something along the lines of these awesome recycled-sweater garments
*small art quilts (2 x 3 feet or smaller-- or pillow case/cover(s) if that works better with your decor)
*dead fish hats!
*steampunky goggles somewhat like these (although donations of appropriate purses to recon would be helpful!)
*these gaucho-style pants.  I have the size 12-16 pattern, but could adapt it for other measurements.
*some kind of exciting embellished shoes! some thoughts: fabric covered, painted or painted & embellished, sparkly or sparkly and!  (none of these are quite what I want to do for me, but I'm completely up for trying new stuff)
*something gibbous-fashions inspired (see list of links on sugaree's list...  Roll Eyes )

Things I'd like to have:
*french press felted slippers (FYI, the pattern is slightly cheaper on ravelry, if you want to get it & are a member there)
*handspun yarn, particularly in either superwash or fun arty textures
*a Mucha girl or similar multi-media piece (from psyche's list)
*half-fingered gloves, though maybe with the fingers a little longer so they cover two knuckles instead of just one.
*altered altoid tins (from feast your eyes' list)
*pleated paper bag skirt (from aisy's list... although I'd like it to be a little longer if possible, and pockets would be fantastic, if the designer gets around to drafting them)
*Loaded charm bracelet and necklace set (from aisy's list)
*homemade paper (from tanza's list)
*embroidered pillow cases (from tanza's list)
*a bleach skeleton shirt (from sugaree's list)
*a nice DPN/crochet hook roll similar to the one on glambastard's list (see also foxy sam)

Things I'd like to make:

Bow-knot scarf:

Silk knitted bowtie:

Wooly Wormhead's Sloppy Joe hat:

Please note: I have a sneaking suspicion that any of the above knitting projects may be a bit light for a large. I figure I can do two out of three if you'd like Smiley

Dog coat:
Maybe this: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=194
Maybe this: http://doggoneknit.com/one-piece-dog-sweater-pattern/
I have a ton of patterns for dog sweaters, many of which are not online. However, whatever I made would look
like a sweater you'd put on your dog...

Chanson en crochet (shawl, capelet kinda thing):
This is a pattern I love making, so I'd love to make one for myself and one for you Smiley

New one: the South Bay Shawlette pattern from LionBrand:

New one: Textured Tweed Clutch

This is a long shot, but if someone else wants a bouquet of fabric flowers that are made of various kinds of
fabric with a button in the center, I'll also be producing many, many of those soon Smiley I can't swear they'll be
Kanzashi, but whatever they are they'll be cute. (And if sewing the edges takes too long, I've got pinking shears
and I'm not afraid to use them.)

Things I'd like to receive:

(This is just a start. For the moment, I'm just working off other people's stuff-to-make lists.)

From psyche's list:
- full fancy hostess apron
- a Mucha-girl or possibly other artist art piece inspired by the Multi-Craft Mucha

From thanate: (Though I swapped with her last time, and she'd probably like a break from me Tongue)
- dead fish hat

From amigurumi4life:
- Well, an amigurumi of course Smiley

From FeastYourEyes:
- dog clothes! (can't have naked dogs...)
- wire-wrapped pendant
- underbust corset

From Korok:
- ironing board cover

From Aisy's list:
- Tea-cup thread catcher and pin-cushion
- Loaded charm bracelet and necklace set

From luckdragon's list:
- Kate Spade beantown- inspired purse

From glambastard's list:
-knitting needle/crochet hook holder (I also have the Boyes kit in the fugly case)

I have included some links.
I will add more that I want as I think of them, at the moment I seem to have have more that I would love to make for others than what I would like for myself  Cheesy

I am happy to combine some of the smaller things to make up to a large when we get partnered up, please remember embroidery, even by machine, take a lot longer than stenciling.

to make

homemade paper
machine embroidered kitchen hanger towels
altered t-shirt does this awesome laptop case count? I think I would pad the inside of this also-
a toilet roll hanger for the toilet wall, embroidered or stenciled
stencil/embroidered t-shirt
pillow cases embroidered/stenciled ( if you want a different shape and you supply the insert that’s cool)
small stenciled/embroidered knee quilt
set of shopping tote bags
light weight pale blue or pale green or dark green and white cheesecloth(I had tons of this fabric ) skirt, as in several layers as in a longer(for me ,you may want a shorter one) fairy style
