I have nowhere else to post this, so I'll put it here, but mods should put it wherever seems best, thanks.

I just wanted to say that as much as I LOVE craftster, I am sad to see what I think is an increase in people making careless and hurtful, pointlessly personal remarks in their posts.  This is a crafts site, not a "let me judge you unasked" site.

Please, everybody, think first if you would say this to his/her face before hitting post.  Just because the internet is a virtual community doesn't mean we can't be at least as nice to each other as we would be in the real world.

Just my two cents.  In general everyone is sweet and supportive on here, but every once in awhile, things get waaaaaay nastier than they need to be.

i agree. i belong to many a forum, but this one is by far the most polite and thoughtful. still, people can always use a reminder.

I totally agree. And just a gentle reminder, if you see posts that are against the rules, or just plain rude or offensive, please let us mods know by clicking the "report to moderator" button. Thanks!

I have to agree, kind of.  One, I think since there are so many opinionated people on here, it is natural they would butt heads every so ofter, if there was like, a post on politics.  But, on the other hand, this is supposed to be about the crafts.  If we just stick to the crafts, and not the opinions (IE. yes, "Go George Bush t-shirt",  no "Bush sucks and Kerry roxs and btw here's a bag I made posts").  Just be nice.  That's what it all boils down to.

just as devil's advocate, super geek, why is  "Go George Bush t-shirt" a yes?  if we're allowing politics, it should be open forum...i see this thread as more about people not saying "you suck" or "your art sucks" (or "make a matching bra", in my case  Tongue ), not so much that the content of their art might be perceived as negative.  for me, a pro-bush tshirt would be a negative thing, but i wouldn't smack talk it.

Annette, I THINK what Supergeek is trying to get across is exactly what you said.  That is a person can craft a "Go Bush" shirt and post it since they are really showing off what they made more than what their opinion is.  What she doesn't want is people saying "Here's a bag I made, by the way Politician X sucks".  I personally might not LIKE the opinion expressed on a crafted item but I should still be able to respect the work put into the finished object.  And if I don't agree with the opinion and don't like the craft, well, I should just keep my  mouth shut and find another thread to interest me.

I THINK everyone is basically saying the same thing in this thread.  The crafted item is what's important, not necessarily the message it may carry.  Mind you, if I saw a bag featuring a hateful slur...well, that's totally different.  In that case...I would hit the "report to moderator" button and have that sucka taken down!

Kiss  I could be wrong about the way I'm understanding this thread so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

My two cents - I agree with gaiter_girl about super geek's post.  That's what I got out of it anyway.  Hopefully we're all sufficiently mature to separate the craft from the crafter.
