ETA:  I've been receiving quite a few messages regarding the pattern for this afghan.  I am sorry to say but I no longer have the chart and it appears that the site where I got the chart from is no longer around.  You can get your own chart using one of the many free on-line graph makers.  Just upload a picture of the Cowboys star or whatever into the graph maker and VOILA, a chart for you to follow.  The method I used was one single crochet per square on the graph.  Have fun.

It's finally done!!   Grin

I don't even really enjoy crocheting but I saw these football logo charts a few years ago and since then have had the idea in the back of my mind to make one for my dad.  He's a big Cowboys fan and actually appreciates getting handmade things.

At first I thought I was crocheting something lap blanket size and figured it would take me a couple of weeks to finish...Just in time for Christmas.   Roll Eyes  It ended up taking me more like 6 weeks off and on and is over 5 foot square.    At one point I ended up with a few extra stitches around the star which made it look kind of wonky so I tore out and redid about 40 rows.  Ugh!  I guess I got my fill of crochet because I am just thrilled beyond words that this thing is finally done!!

It's all single crochet, and made with Red Heart (...one of the balls of grey may have been Bernat.)  Pretty simple pattern but I'm kind of proud to have finished something so big.  My dad is really happy with it and can't believe I took the time to make it for him.  Though he says I jinxed the Cowboys making it to SuperBowl because it wasn't done in time for Christmas.  I don't even watch football so I don't take it personal!   Cheesy

I wish I got better pics, horrible apartment lighting...

Star Logo

This one is pretty close to the colors

The cats think it's for them <3

On the spare bed for size, not quite big enough for a bed spread.

Way too much to be worth it!!  I'm done with crochet for awhile!  Cheesy

You could totally make this regardless of your crochet skill level.  The chart was really easy to read and it actually comes together pretty quick.  I think each row only took me about 25 minutes (240 stitches/row) and I'm a slow non-focused crocheter.  The RedHeart was easy to work with and cost about $40.

Oooo, major kudos to you! That's fantastic, I love how the lines of the star look. My grandmother would probably give you a basketful of goodies just for having made this. Smiley she's a crazy Cowboys fan.
