Ever since I got my mac, and realized what it was like to be able to carry around a laptop that didnít weigh as much as a brick, Iíve had this problemÖ I donít know what to carry it in. The purse that I always use is way too small, and (call me picky) but I didnít just want to walk around with a canvas bag. On top of it, Iím going to England in three weeks and I needed a big carry-on bag that could hold everything.

WELL, me being me, I decided that I was going to make my OWN bag that was big enough to hold my laptop and other things, along with looking pretty. So I looked at some photos of purses I liked, made a pattern and got to work. I didnít spend a penny on this bagÖ I have a massive stash of fabric held in multiple Rubbermaid containers all over my apartment, so I just pulled from there and this is what happened! It helped that I had a spare ugly purse lying around (about to go to the thrift shop) so I took the straps and random tan accessories from it and put them on my bag. It was a complete experiment, but I am soooo happy with how it turned out!

VOILA! Pretty good for a first try, eh?

great design!  can't believe it's your first bag.  is it padded for the laptop at all?

ETA - I love how the stripes evoke a zebra pattern with the way you've gathered it.  genious!

no, it's not padded, but it's triple lined with various weights on canvas so that it's super heavy duty... looks pretty AND gets the job done!

Guardie for life.

I am really interested in doing a personal swap, especially for greener things like reusable lady items, wool dryer balls, or other such things.  I can knit, sew, draw, and put things together in pretty neat ways.  Please PM me if you're interested.
