My little boy was extremely specific in the costume he wanted.  A Black Super Hero.  yes black.  He wanted the letter and flashes in red.  My son is 3 and knows what he wants.

Now you can't buy black sperhero outfits for a 3-4 year old size.  I didn't fancy buying a aged 8 Zorro outfit at 20 and changing it to fit and style, so I had to make one.  Luckily I'd picked up some black jersey from remnants bin which was intended for t-shirt for me at some point!  I had the black lining, red cotton and the felt.

the outfit is a one piece to wear over clothing, with a seperate belt, mask and cape.  The one piece idea came from looking at the BEN 10 swampfire outfit he was given as a present this Christmas.  I also used this as the pattern base without cutting the original up.

It took ages as it had to be made after DS had gone to bed.  DS had sent the fairies a request and waited a whole week for it (which in kid time is forever).

The one priece is made from the jersey.
the cape is make from black lining,
the belt and emblems are from red cotton.
and the mask is felt with card interior.

I wanted the letters/flashes to look slightly frayed hence they are not appliqued round the outside in the usual way.  This has added to the outfit though.

My son loves it.  He wants to wear it all the time.  It is in the washing machine as he says he has to wear it for Nursery on Wednesday.

enough waffle...

this pic was just too creepy at midnight!

this is awesome! when my girl was five, she had this really heavy bumblebee costume she would wear EVERY day, it seemed ... and wanted to wear it as 'real clothes' to the mall in March - to which the husband and I agreed, and it was HI-LAR-IOUS! I love kids being addicted to costumes! And your boy looks PUMPED! lol
