Hello my fellow craftinista's! I have been on the lookout for a company/person that does affordable custom textile designs. I have used spoonflower, which is great, but WAY too expensive. It is very kitshy and the instant sampler function is great, but for a person looking to purchase at least 50 yards of fabric at a time it is just way too expensive at over $16 a yard for the cheapest fabric.
Any help would be wonderful!

Stay crafty,
Xza

Oooh 50 yards is a lot for hobby, but not much for manufacturing. For example Robert Kaufman's minimums are 3000 yards.
http://www.first2print.com/ came up with a google search. They don't have a price quote or minimums listed, though. My university has a large scale printer with the ability to print on fabric, but those cost thousands of dollars.

I know! I am smack dab between not enough and way too much! Frustrating! I wish my university had a textile program, I would sign up ASAP!

I looked around a bit and spoonflower unfortunately seems like your best option... it says if you order more than 20 yards of your own design, they knock 20% off the price. Still not cheap but better than no price break at all.
Also, try looking around your local area if you haven't already. It's a long shot, but you might get lucky and find a textile printer or a school other than your own that has the facilities and could make a deal with you (or at least suggest some places to try).
May I ask what you're working on with all that fabric?
