My sister in law volunteers at a Cocker Spaniel rescue. They have maybe 15 dogs at one time that need to be adopted. The problem is that we have difficulty getting the name out there. For Valentines day the owner wanted to have an event and give out treats. We were thinking of doing postcards with pictures of the doggies in cute poses, or sell them even to raise money for the shelter.
She also wanted to do a sort of Spaniel kisses both, where you pay for cuddles- but some of the doggies are very old and still recovering.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I wanted to help since we got our puppy from them and he's so good! And only 13 years young!

That's good! You can also check out your local craigslist.org. Put a post on there.

I don't know where you live, but if you have any pet shops in your area, maybe you could try working with them.  Pet owners who are prone to pampering their pets are often sympathetic to pet plight (say that three times fast!).  I know in our arts district there is a little shop that sells upscale pet things.  Maybe since y'all are (presumably) crafty, you could create some items that could be sold, like cute doggie tags with your info attached, or even just drop off a stack of fliers or business cards if it's a larger chain.

I recently adopted a pug that was a rescue.  The mid-Atlantic pug rescue does a website where you can be an angel for a pug needing adoption or medical care by donating through pay pal.  Then your name is listed as their angel.

Maybe you could do something similar.  Cut out hearts & put each dogs's name or picture on them & people can pay to send them a valentine?

Good luck.  I absolutely love animal rescues & have to say thanks for all you are doing.

Yeah I would go with the Petsmart idea, the shelter I volunteer at holds adoption drives every other saturday and we do quite well there. It also gets people thinking about you name when they are ready to adopt. Petsmart and Petco also let us place flyers on their counters and each person that adopts during the drive, they give them this coupon book for all sorts of dog related things.

Craigslist also has a pets section where a lot of dogs get posted with contact info for adoption. Does the shelter have a website?

Interested in personal swaps!

Are they listed on Petfinder.com? That's a great website.

Petsmart is a good idea, a lot of people go through those stores.
