I had a load of this toasty coloured crochet fabric lying around and envisioned them as wings at first. Then it kind of evolved into a dress. I was inspired by Chloe, Lover, the 70s and Anita Pallenberg. It's an a-line tent shaped frock with a scalloped hem, fitted bust darts, flared crochet-lace sleeves and a kind of key-hole back. It took several hours spread across 4 days to complete. Unfortunately I mismeasured the length of the dress so as you can tell, it's a little bit short! I think I'll wear leggings underneath it or maybe flared jeans if I can op-shop a pair.

here's a link to a "making of" video i shot while i was ... well, making the dress haha

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Her810ml8lo

I followed this tutorial by Vain&Vapid on how to sew scallopped hems, it was my first time and I'm so glad they turned out half-decent!

Stunning! I think it would look awesome paired with some really pale gold leggings. I love the sleeves and I'm going to have to take a look at the scalloped edgings.

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Lovely dress. I love the scalloped hem.
My mom was a micro-mini wearer in the late 60's and her personal rule for shortness was, if you couldn't fold your fingers under the hem while straight armed, it was obviously way too long. (But personally I'd go with the tights, much less of a chance for mishaps.)

I think the dress looks lovely! If you are concerned about the shortness you could add another layer of scalops with the sleeve matterial around the bottom hem. It looks great regardless.

This is beautiful when I first saw it , it reminded me of a beautiful bohemian wedding dress.
With tall grass, and a handsome man , shirtless in a pair of raggedy ole' jeans.
Oh you are paintin' me a picture...
