hbrady99 - isn't the book awesome? I love it! I also would eventually like to get a stitch encyclopedia. I have one for embroidery, but not for crochet. I love your colors too, pink and brown are a good combo.

I've finished two willows, will try to post tonight. I did one in yarn and one in thread (as a coaster for a swap). I've yet to start the bonus square - better get to it!

There is a great website I learned about from some nice craftster in the motif swap that I'm in now: http://www.mypicot.com - check it out!

hbrady99 your block is really pretty. I have done all my blocks in Caron simply soft and love it. I just bought a bunch more colors last night so my blanket will have a nice variety. My copy of the book should be in tomorrow I have been using the one from the library but decided to buy it as I think it will be a really great resource for future blankets.

I showed the book to my daughter and she, of course, requested a Christmas blanket.  But I was thinking if I do a few squares a week, there's no reason why I can't make a large afghan for myself and a smaller one for her  Grin

I love how the book has suggestions on complementary squares and sample blankets.  I was really impressed by it!

Okay- finished the bonus square last night.  Decided to use the same yarn as the Willow.

hbrady99 those are really pretty is your whole blanket going to be in those colors? They work really well together, for mine I'm using a lot of different colors to keep myself interested in the project.

I'm planning on just using whatever yarn I have laying around- so nope, won't be all those colors.  I actually giggled when I was done- there's so much pink and I'm so not girly!  But I do love the yarn and think the colors look good together.  Thanks for all of the compliments- you're making me blush!!!!!!

Here are my Willow squares. The first is for a blanket I'm making for my aunt - various 8" and 12" squares in cream, honey brown, chocolate brown, dark chocolate and cranberry. I received some "taupe mist" as a gift recently so incorporated it into this square. Not sure if its really going to look good with the warmness of the honey brown in some of the other squares. I must be crocheting looser, as I usually have to add a row or two to get to 8", but with this one I had to leave a row off.

And here is one I did in thread to use as a coaster for the tea swap I'm in. I added 5 or 6 rows to get it big enough to set a mug on!
