hand dyed, hand spun, hand crocheted gloves

Hi kids! it's been forever and I've missed craftsterland so so much. It's a new year (with a new camera, thank god) and I want to post all the goodies I've been making!

Since it's winter, I made myself a hat and gloves set. I dyed the wool and then spun it and crocheted the gloves and hat. No pattern for either of them, but it was super easy. The hat is ribbed but I didn't make it in the round. The gloves have ribbed cuffs and they're fingerless with a mitten. I looooove them.

(mostly I love taking silly pictures with my new toy! I don't like winter, it's so cooolllddd and I don't have a car. Good thing I have warm gloves.)








I'm currently working on another glove set for my partner, except in gray.

Thanks! Ive always hated pattern writing, but it wasn't very difficult. I worked the cuff in rows to fit my wrist and then seamed the two ends. I worked along the edge to start the glove (3 sts per 2 rows, so 3 sts per one "rib"). When I got to the thumb area, I chained to go around like in toe up socks and then continued in rows up to the finger area then went back and finished off the thumb (decreasing two in each corner for 3ish rows, and then worked even).

Thanks! For the fingers, I just make sure I make sure they fit well, I suppose. I also chain one between the front and back when I start working the round so theyre not too snug.

Oh, and it's all half double crochet. I love that stitch: small enough to make a thick cloth, but not so small that it takes forever.

Its super easy, mammallama! There are fantastic tutorials around. Ive always been a big fan of Amie over at http://nexstitch.com/  She made some video tutorials a couple years ago which are really good.

 I just saw your needle felted hippo and it is SO adorable! You should definitely give crochet a try
