Hello everyone.

I am in a conceptual art class and have to do a performance piece. I did come up with a few ideas but my professor shot them down.

I wanted to place a zipper over my mouth so that people must unzip the zipper to allow me to speak or respond as -they- wished. Since I am a female my professor was against this idea.

Does anyone else have ideas for a simple performance art piece? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Just got flaked on for personal swaps so I am taking a break. ^_^; sorry everyone.

I don't see why your professor didn't like your idea... wouldn't it be better that you're female? It adds a level of social commentary, which is often a part of art.

All I could think of for ideas was to dress like some famous photograph, frame yourself, but have a camera and take pictures of people who pass by. A photo taking photos. Maybe that's too complicated though (or people might not get it).

Your professor didn't like the idea? Well, that doesn't rule it out.

In art school my teacher didn't like some of my things either. I didn't rule them out, though. Your gender shouldn't have anything to do with it. The fact that they gave that as a reason is offensive!
