Can someone help me with setting snaps? I totally don't get it. I have messed up sooooo many snaps. Isn't there a machine and not just a manual way of doing this?

like the metal snaps for clothing?
they have them on strips of fabric you can sew them on if you have a zipper foot
or they have a m,achine/thing
I hope this helps

from the thread on the snap cuff: "yeah, i have trouble with snaps sometimes too - i can't tell you how many have gone in the trash in a mangled mess. patience seems to be key. when line them up, make sure you are putting the right side out, actually snap them together so you're sure, line up your wood spool and make sure it's centered and WHACK! if you can get so much as a fingernail under the edge you need to pound some more. it's helpful to work on a hard level surface." and "As far as snaps I bought a snap wrench thingy at lowes for 18.95 it works much better than the dritz one and the spool and tapper thing..plus it also does the big grommets too. I love grommets."https://www.craftster.org/yabbse/index.php?board=14;action=display;threadid=2030;start=0

my first snaps ever were on a leather bracelet in girl scouts in about 3rd grade.  they turned out perfect!  but I haven't been able to set them right since.  Tongue  I guess it's just one of those things!  try and try again.   Smiley

i must confess that when i put a snap on purses i got to my dads shop to use this thing that is like a vice grip. it was a whole lot eaiser than the little things that you have to use with a hammer to attch the snap.
