I just finished this baby quilt for friends who had a girl last week.  They are writers, so I thought the fabric was a good choice, even though it's not typically 'baby-ish'.  I love how it turned out.  I was especially lucky to find the backing fabric, because the colours were hard to match.

I'm not the best quilter, by a long shot, but I did my best.  It's all machine done and quilted.

I'm quite sad to send it off now!  Hopefully they will see this as a modern take on the baby quilt...  surely they will have enough pink bunnies in their life already.  Right?

I like it. Smiley I agree that people always get way too many pink/blue things for babies.  It'll be nice for them to have an alternative.

That is beautiful!
I love the  Authentic by Sweetwater for Moda fabric line. I know that if I was expecting a baby, I would appreciate something unique and wonderful like this over the more traditional blue and pink designs.

Ohhhhh my gosh! I love this baby quilt. I think I love it because of your non traditional fabric choices, and I think your friends will too. This is totally adorable and so personal. Two thumbs up! Smiley

Thanks everyone!  Your positive response is making me feel better about their reaction. (I made it with this fabric because it's what I would want to get).

And, yes: Yay to "Authentic" by sweetwater for Moda.  I meant to give fabric props and forgot.  It's my favourite fabric line this year.

Oh man... That quilt is just so cool.  I now need that fabric line.  The contrasts in the quilt will be good for the baby's eyes too.  They like things that contrast and the black and the patterns are great for that.  Great job!

I actually HAD that thought, Linnybelle!  I thought I could sell it to them by saying the black and white patterns would make their baby smarter!  ha ha

Love it.  I know I would have been fascinated by all the details as a little kid.

Inside a dog it's too dark to read.

I'm a writer and I LOVE that quilt. I'm sure they will enjoy having something a little different. It's super cute and unique and the fact that you thought about them and what they are into instead of just pink or blue will be appreciated I'm sure.
