Ruffles and Pearls... and Anthropologie Delights

Okay, so this dress was supposed to be a Halloween dress for my sister, but I left it with her to dye it, gave her directions, and she forgot the salt that I had told her to add (I had tried a swatch before I began sewing to make sure it would, and you HAD to add a lot of salt)... so it got ruined  Cry

so you don't get a finished picture, but from the few in progress I have you'll get a general idea... I loved it too and am sad I never got a finished product pic from her...

there were pleated sides as shown in the second pic... and they went into the back to form  cutout v...

for those wondering, the whole thing is tulle, built onto a strapless bra - which made it difficult, it was supposed to be sheerish, she was going to wear a slip underneath the bottom.

I was going for a really earthy look, I wanted the bust to look like rose petals almost... and the skirted bottom to look like leaves.

I did sew some loops on for a silver braided belt to go through, to cover the not so amazing waistline.

anyhoo:

oooh. that's sad.
i think it is even sadder, because you didn't ruin it yourself. at least that's how it always feels to me to me it hurts so much more, if others kill stuff that i made.

but the dress is lovely, the idea behind it is really great!
i bet it was a pain do pleat the tulle

how does it look like now?

If it were me (I'm stubborn)
I would try to overdye it and see if that improved it.

I may get a take 2.. a lady at my work asked me to make her a tinkerbell costume to wear around the house for her husband (where's the blushing icon when you need it)
