Hey everyone, sorry I've been kind of MIA lately.  I'm still beading up a storm (I swear it's the only thing that keeps me sane), just not posting like I should.  Here's my latest piece.  Enjoy Smiley.

Beautiful colors & design. How long did it take you to make?

Thanks much!  It really didn't take long, maybe a day?  It beaded up pretty fast because it's a 4-drop pattern (I'm kind of stuck on those lately).

I knew this was your work from the merest glance at the thumbnail! Hit 'this rocks' as per usual!  Cheesy

What is a "4-drop pattern"?

Thank you!  A 4-drop pattern is the same concept as standard (single drop) peyote stitch, but instead of picking up one bead and skipping one bead at a time, you pick up four beads and skip four beads.  Does that make sense?

I can tell you a GREAT book that really helped me.  it's called The Encyclopedia of Beading Techniques.  there is an "Idiots" guide and a "Dummies" guide, but I actually found this one to be the most helpful of the 3.  it shows peyote, brick, square, etc. and variations of each.  it only shows up to 2-drop peyote, but the idea is essentially the same for 3-drop, 4-drop, etc.  the only difference is the number of beads you string and skip.  check out this book for her.  it really may come in handy.  you can find it at Borders as well, probably even Barnes & Noble (I just happened to have bought it at Borders).  there are also some other books listed on the Amazon page that you can look at for bead weaving.  it'll give you an idea of what to look for if you were to go to a book store.

and by the way JAM, this is so freaking cool.

Wowzers - that is freakin cool! It really does have an "energy" to it! You used the different finished to play off each other really well - with the matte, and the sprinkles off silver-lined. My favorite cuff of yours so far, hands down.
