I made this as a thank-you for my french tutor (she likes elephants) and am giving it to her today.  It's just a simple zippered pouch, knitted in Paton's Classic Wool on size 9 circulars.  I was going to felt it but chickened out because I wasn't sure how the intarsia would react.  Still, I'm pretty satisfied.

update:  I also lined it with purple plaid fabric I had scraps of.  She (my tutor) really liked it, and said that it had been a long time since anyone had knitted something for her.  I think there should be more kniitted gifts in the world, if that's the case, heehee!

So cute!!  My son loves elephants and I am now inspired to make a beanie with one Smiley

Don't be afraid next time to felt - I am sure it would have held up well.  I felted my similarly-sized ipod cozy with intarsia on it and it worked great (imho).

Yeah, I did.  I just kinda sketched the shape on knitting graph paper until it looked right, and then tried to fill in the closest squares.

Thanks!  And Thanks, LeSophie for the felting encouragement!  Will you show us the beret when it's done?  Smiley

Thank you!  I love all the colors this yarn comes in, it makes me so greedy when I go to the store...  Okay, all yarn makes me greedy.  I admit it.

Aw gosh, that's adorable!!  If you wanted to share the chart for the intarsia, I would be interested.  Good job!  My favorite part is the little tail Smiley
