I just made my first crocheted anything, ever, and it is a hat!  I am so excited with the results!

I just made it up as I went along and I know it's probably not that thrilling to you friends out there who actually know what they're doing, but I am so thrilled to have made something at all.  This opens up a whole new world for me...  Grin  Please let me know what you think, good or bad, or offer advice because like I said I'm a COMPLETE beginner.

Top of Hat

Happy Hat-maker

P.S. Do you think it's okay to wear in public?  I think I'm going to...

Oooh. I love how simple it is. I really like simple things. I think a lot of knit and crochet work have too many embellishments and don't just let the stitches speak for themselves.

That being said, I love your hat. I might have made it a bit tighter using sc, but that is a personal preference.

Congratulations and I hope to see more of your work.

I love it!! Great job on your first project!
I think I threw my first project out from embarassment. But you have no need for that! Smiley

Thank you so much for the encouragement, guys!  I have already worn it to two things, and even got some compliments.  Cheesy  I want to get started on another project now!

I might have made it a bit tighter using sc, but that is a personal preference.

Thanks for the tip!  (umm...  what is sc?  Huh)

sc stands for single crochet...... but if you are in the UK i believe it is called double crochet

Wow, congrats on figuring out how to make the increases! I made a lot of stuff that way, just starting and doing whatever looked right. That is a great hat, and you should definitely wear it in public!

Alright cool.  I'm still going to have to google that one...  my crochet vocab is limited to "hook" and "yarn"

Wow, congrats on figuring out how to make the increases!

Hmm.  Thank you.  But I'm not sure I did any increases.  Is that making it wider as you go?  I went the other way, like I started with the part that goes around your forehead and worked up to the top.
