Heh, now the funny part about it in my house is that we just put our cat's food and water on the dog's grooming table in the basement. =D

my parents created a space on the top of their fridge and built a small ramp covered in carpet to feed their cats for the same reason.

She may very be the clumsiest cat, but who can't love a face like this?

this is the cutest calico i've seen in a long while!

Sorry - I had to post this photo. We have no problem with the dog eating the cat food, he knows it's not for him, but the poor thing stands there and looks helpless when the cat eats his food - which she loves. This is a photo of her at about 5 weeks trying to eat out of his bowl.

I have this problem too, but sadly, your great solution won't work for me - my dog is a collie, so putting the food up would just mean that he wouldn't have to bend over to eat it! Cheesy But I guess it all evens out, because my cat mooches off of the dog's treats and water.

Your idea is good, congrats.

Thats cool, in our house we put the food ontop of a saw-horse. Now the cat just steals the dogs food.

That's a great solution!
Here was ours-- we put the smallest size "doggie" door (and took of the flap) in the half bath door and fed and had the litter in there. Our dog is too big to get into the little doggie door so she just stuck her nose thru and whined at the cat while he ate.

Especially since the cat only had 3 legs so he wasn't the most nimble creature-- he had trouble towards the end jumping off the couch so I know that not all cats land on thier feet-- he would almost hit his nose on the floor because he only had the 1 leg in front to catch all his weight!

But for most cats with a dog in the household this would be a great solution!

That picture of the kitten in the dog bowl kills me! Even after fostering about 80 kittens, I am smitten with the things they do.

Great idea about the food shelf!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it! --Elwood Blues

What a cute idea!  My kitty doesn't have any doggy frinds to play with Embarrassed or to steal his food, but he loves an obstacle course!  I will have to do something similar.
