Almost 2 years ago I saw this wonderful head-eating-shark-hat (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=140006.0) here on crafster and of course had to try to make a version of it for my oldest nephew (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=223320.0).

Now, my sister called me a few days ago and said they've just brought out the winter clothes and therefor also the shark hat. Now my youngest nephew is almost three and has thus reached an age when he's old enough to realise what a totally awsome hat his brother have. And since my nephews are not stupid they know very well that I'm usually able to create whatever they want me too so he stated that he wanted one too. But not a shark. No, mister young one wanted a crocodile.
When my sister asked if I'd be willing to grant him his wish and make one I of course accepted but was quite puzzled by how to make one since the crocodile's mouth is so long and un-head-friendly (let's face it - we don't want him running around with his face entirely covered by the gap). Also I had no idea what to do with the long long body of such an animal.

I presented the problem to my brother who painted me a very cute design on his computer and sent it, and then I brought out the knitting needles, the yarn, the crochet needle (*gasps* me? crochet? you've got to be kidding...) and a sewing needle for the eyes.

And yesterday I finally finished it, and am happy to present the result to you here.
Concept by my nephew, design by my brother and pattern/construction by me, I give you -The Crocodile Hat!

(all busy trying to eat our jar of msli since there were no kids nearby to devour)

I even crochet nostrils. EVen though I suck at crocheting *proud*

And eye-lids!

Now all that's left is to hand it over to the little guy and hope he likes it. =)

New action-shots:

I'm sorry about the horrible quality of these, but it was dark, and the boys were running around so I really had to pick my moment and take a picture really quick.
Anyway, this is what it looks like on the little guy =)

Oh that is so cool!  Wonderful job!

Want to learn to crochet or knit?  I have a ton of extra crochet hooks & circular knitting needles.  Will throw in some pattern books and yarn for anyone interested in a swap.

This is so cool! I love it! You are very talented to be able to make your own patterns. I 'you rocked' you.

My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare
I had to cram so many things to store everything in there
And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people
And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people
I never thought I'd need so many people
