I made this mobile for my friend Danna's boy Darren (due next month). I got the idea from the book Baby Stuff by Aranzi Aronzo, but put my own little spin on it. I had to do a few late nights to get it finished by the baby shower, but it was worth it!

The small bamboo hoop for the top is part of a set of purse handles given away in a knitting magazine I sell at work. When the new issue came in, we had to send the magazine back, but we had to "throw out" the handles since the company didn't want them back. I gave them a home because I'm generous like that.  Wink

The big main hoop in the middle is actually the second hoop in a pair my mom bought for a mobile she made for my brother...30 years ago! She held on to it all the this time, convinced there was a good use for it someday. It's the crafty packrat's motto: "A thing for every use and a use for everything" aka "Don't throw that out! I can use that for...something!"

The bodies are made of white scrap fleece and the heads/legs are made from microfiber upholstery samples provided lovingly by my boyfriend. The furniture store he works for is periodically discontinuing upholstery styles and I get to keep the samples for crafting! From small 3 inch squares to large 1 foot by 2 foot swatches. I'm so lucky!

On his own before I attached him to the mobile.

Attached and loving it! The yarn used is now sadly discontinued by it's maker, but I snatched it up a few years ago determined there was a purpose for it someday. (See above)  Tongue

Thanks for looking! I'll be doing another one soon for my friend Katie (why is everyone having babies?) but that one will include polar bears instead of sheep. Her husband is a huge polar bear friend, so I thought it would be pretty cute.

This is just beautiful! My daughter is too old for a mobile now, but I'm not!
