hi guys. i don't frequent this board much, but i thought i'd share a small sketch i did after reading mark danielewski's "house of leaves."

probably the most interesting book i've read in a long, long time.

sorry it's fuzzy. i really really need a better camera. but it is slightly purple - i sketched it first in purple pen then went over it with a black ink pen.

i tried to include as many elements from the book as possible - i don't even remember all of them now... the text down the right says "one by one, they all died or disappeared." then the scribbling on the left margin is supposed to be animal sihlouettes (shadow puppets) with the quote "Mr. Monster?"

i could explain more, but i'd be typing until dinnertime!
thanks for looking, c&c very very much appreciated.

Nice drawing.  I would suggest even a scanner if you cant get your hands on a better camera for future picture postings.  It really brings out your drawing when you scan them.

Smiley thanks for sharing

yeah, i used to have a scanner, but it died a slow, annoying death a few years ago. i'd buy both a new camera and a new scanner if i could! (holiday wishes, i guess...)

I was at the book store and had heard about this book, on the particular copy i pulled out, there was a post it note "this book will blow your mind." I have only read about 50 pages, with school i have been unable to pull the time to get into a book, so it is on the top of my to-read stack.

(and then I noticed that I hadn't commented on the art..)

So without knowing too much about the book, I really do like the drawing. it's a trip.

yes, the book really will blow your mind! it does take some patience sometimes, and a willingness to just go with it when answers aren't always present, but as you so ably put it, it's a trip.

glad you liked the sketch! after reading the book, you'll have to see how many elements you can find! i think there's 21 in all...
