thats hot.  usually i hate cut-out backs, buts yours is tasteful and supercute.  it would be detrimenal to society if you didn't wear it in public!

vintage vixens, traveling the line
swirling words across a page, if you would have it

thanks everyone! i used simplicity 5221

i'm sure you can find a dress pattern that's similar that's not so formal, or figure out how to do the top and a skirt and attatch them together.

for the back i just sort of winged it since i didn't know what kind of closure to use. after sewing the dress together, i left enough room so i could slip it on and marked how far down i wanted to opening to be. and then i cut open the back like this:

then to each piece i sewed a strip of the fabric like this

(black line is where you fold down before you sew it)

i then added velcro to the pieces but i'm sure you could use something else.

then to cover up the stitching on the straps that went on top, i sewed on a 'bow' which didnt really turn out like it was supposed to Embarrassed here's my crappy tutorial for the bow:

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit.

"No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."

haha thanks everyone! i didn't realize that so many people actually liked the dress. i still think it's kind of iffy but i guess you've talked me into wearing it at least once. Tongue
