Hi I joined the board last week. After making an attempt at the felt monster tutorial I got energetic and whipped up this crotchety guy this weekend for my boyfriends birthday (he has a tropical themed apartment and I have a thing for pirates).

http://www.martinigurl.com/images/mewmew1.jpg
I ended up sewing his pegleg on in the wrong spot so its longer than his other leg. And he cant sit down anymore cause his pirate pants don't let his legs move much.... I was going to make him a black velvet jacket but I really don't know much about putting clothes together.

The brown stuff is chest hair.
He's got a few battle scars...

And here are the Pirate flag pillows I made for my boyfriend at Christmas:

Thanks!
Yes the ear is blanket stitch. I think I might put a yellow belt buckle on the front of his pants as they seem to be missing something. Maybe a tattoo on his arm too... a heart with MOM?? Hehe. The part that I am kind of disappointed with is his eye, I wish I had had a better button on hand. I may replace the white one with a black one and paint an eye on to give him more personality. Maybe some eyebrows too....

Oh my GOD! too cute! With your permission I may duplicate, with some modifications,  this guy for my little sister. She works at an animal shelter and is constantly bringing home and falling in love with the saddest most pitiful animal you can imagine!

I should also add that on our way to my boyfriends place (Scurvy's now permanent abode) I slipped on my icy sidewalk flat on my back and you wouldnt believe it but the Captain broke my fall!!! Yes he saved at least a portion of my back from getting brusied... He was also covered from head to toe in snow. It was so funny these highschool boys drove past hanging out of their truck window laughing and hollering at him.

Yeah they were laughing at him,
not me flat on my back on my sidewalk....

really.... Grin

Thanks guys! Well he is made of fleece so what i did for the tail was I just cut short strips of fleece and used a needle and thread and just started sewing them together at the middle one by one, over lapping them. then when it was lo ng enough i tied it off and I think i cut some of the thicker strips in half so it was more bushy. I wasn't sure it was gonna look ok and it was the last thing i added to him after sitting at my sewing table for so many hours so it wasn't done carefully or neatly by any means! If i didnt explain well, i could maybe draw a diagram or take some pics to show ya.
