Hi I joined the board last week. After making an attempt at the felt monster tutorial I got energetic and whipped up this crotchety guy this weekend for my boyfriends birthday (he has a tropical themed apartment and I have a thing for pirates).

I ended up sewing his pegleg on in the wrong spot so its longer than his other leg. And he cant sit down anymore cause his pirate pants don't let his legs move much.... I was going to make him a black velvet jacket but I really don't know much about putting clothes together.

The brown stuff is chest hair.
He's got a few battle scars...

And here are the Pirate flag pillows I made for my boyfriend at Christmas:

I love it!  Is that blanket stitching on his ear?  Such a great idea.

The time has come
The walrus said
To talk of many things-
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax-
Of cabbages and kings.
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings.

Oye, that is so funny! I love how you made his patch removable with the scar underneath;p

Thanks!
Yes the ear is blanket stitch. I think I might put a yellow belt buckle on the front of his pants as they seem to be missing something. Maybe a tattoo on his arm too... a heart with MOM?? Hehe. The part that I am kind of disappointed with is his eye, I wish I had had a better button on hand. I may replace the white one with a black one and paint an eye on to give him more personality. Maybe some eyebrows too....

oh man, what isn't there to love? the gut, the chest hair, my particular favourite would have to be the battle scars though.

Oh! and the peg leg!  Perfect!
