I enjoy making things to give as gifts for the holidays.  But I have a couple of relatives (father and step-mother) who don't ususally go in for the "crafty" type gift.  I will have to ship their gift as they live quite a ways away.

Any ideas or suggestions of things that I could make them?

Thanks!

I don't know what you can make, but I love making dishcloths/washcloths. And they can serve as packing material! Add a tag to each one saying who it's for and a do not open thing on the box, and you're good.

Tee-shirts/clothes also work well in this regard. Say you make mom a skirt, the package at the bottom will help cushion the bottom from uncaring postal workers.

I always send my mom a fruitcake I've made, pecans I have gathered free, homemade candies.  Jellies are nice, as are those "in a jar " things and Inow save the plastic mayo jars that are quart sized so I don't worry about breaking.  Candles you pour yourself are very nice , or if you don't want to pour it, add an embelishment like lace, flowers, decals to a boughten candle. Men are so hard to make for.  I made my husband a denim vest with batting and flannel lining one Christmas and he loved it (made my brother one and I doubt he even wore it, oh well)  Anyway, I make a lot of sewed gifts every year.
