So I went to American Apparel to look for shiny silvery things for my halloween costume (don't worry, i am sewing most of it myself, but that is another post for another day), and saw some leggings with zippers running up the legs. Of course their leggings cost $52 (US), which is a whole heap of crap. I ended up not buying anything at the store cuz I can make all of it myself.

And for some reason I really wanted some zippery leggings. I know that they are weird, but the little punk i have hiding deep within me was like "Metal! Zippery goodness! Badass! I must have them!" So I bought some thrift store Leggings and some zippers, and in about half an hour i had them! yay!

and of course they can be unzipped, for fun.

and here is the original inspiration:

The zippers on mine don't go all the way to the waist, but that's fine as i don't intend to wear them as pants. The will be worn under sexy or edgy dresses and skirts.

Thanks for looking! Comments are appreciated!

Those look awesome! Great job. As soon as I saw these I instantly thought the same thing as you,  haha:)
How did you get the zipper to go on so smoothly? Every zipper I sew becomes really wavy.

well, i first sewed them by stretching the fabric to as stretched out as it would be on me, and the zippers were all wavy. So then i sewed them again leaving the fabric unstretched, and i set the presser foot pressure to 1 on my machine, so the fabric didn't get all stretched as i sewed. they aren't perfect by any means, there is a little wavyness at the knees, but it ain't no thang.

Awesome Wink
I know i've been planning to get some leggings and mod them to no end. I cant believe the prices on leggings with zippers, even the ones just at the ankle.

I was just in American Apparel today, completely appalled at their prices for items that were basically pieces of fabric, so I am 100% admiring this project and I am super tempted to try it myself. You did a great job - I know that if I did this, my zippers would be hideous.
