Took my puppy for a walk today and noticed this great fabric in the cheapy fabric store. It is really much prettier than it looks on camera, like pashmina-ish and not as shiny as it looks in the flash. bought the fabric and got the idea for the dress on another walk with the puppy an hour later and made this... didn't exactly turn out like I'd expected (nothing I make ever does) and I'm thinking to do something with white cotton lace or something...maybe wear it with cowboy boots?

I think it came out great. Before I even read what you wrote I was thinking "Hmmm...I'd wear that with some cowboy boots." So I'm going along with your cowboy boots idea Wink

I like it too. You look pretty, and like this would be your style. I think you did a good job!

I think it's super cute.  Although I think it might be a little to long for boots.  Maybe some cute flats or those crazy wrap sandals?

Eco-friendly items, patterns, hippies, and more.

I'm on Ravelry, too!

yeah it came out a little longer than planned. I wanted a ruffle but found i didn't have enough fabric lengthwise to reach both ends, and sewed it normallly instead of bunched and I hate it. I'm thinking to do a long piece of only lightly stretched elastic in the hem to see if I do better. I do have gladiator sandles, perhaps those will be best if the cowboy boots don't work out. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Your dress is really beautiful. I agree with the cowboy boots, as it reminds me of the prairie style clothing. If you want to do something with cotton lace ... get some of the really wide eyelet lace and add a ruffle under the hemline. That way it looks as though you are wearing a petticoat without the added layer. If you find the length too long, just shorten it by an inch or two before adding the eyelet ruffle. Usually, this style dress is longer than most. You did a fabulous job!
