This is very silly, but it makes me laugh so I thought i would post it anyway.

I had a fish for 8 years. He belonged to an ex-boyfriend, and when we went our separate ways we had a vicious custody battle. The fish was not being properly cared for, and I knew it needed me. Eventually, I won custody and I took the fish home with me. My ex had claimed the fish to be a girl, and named her Erin. After settling Erin in her new diggs with some pirate treasure chests and skull home, I decided he was a boy and his name became Jack Sparrow. Jack was already 3 years old, and went to live on for another 5 years with me. We went through a lot together.

This morning, unfortunately, Jack died. And I was actually quite upset. After such a long life and having him with me I got used to seeing him. So when my dad went to flush him I objected! A fish that old and wise that has been through so much in his life deserves a proper burial. So I set forth to give him a nice funeral with a nice casket and an honorable tombstone:

I drew the fish and everything in photoshop and added many textures to give it a 'stone' effect. The casket was made from a tin that I spray painted black and glued the picture on. The tombstone is made from a sample marble tile from a flooring store. My grandma had new tile flooring put in and she saved all the samples and gave them to me. I knew I would find use for them someday! It needed to be raised, so I walked across the street to the lot where a house is being renovated, found a piece of wood in the scrap pile, and spray painted it black and glued the tile on top. Voila! A worthy grave for a deserving fish!

lol...thanks for looking at my dorky project!!

This is sweet!  (I have fish too, since the rest of my family is allergic to everything.. and they say my attachment to my fishes is wrong Sad  I haven't buried them all, but just a few that had been around for several years.)  And fish are just as responsive as any other pet, especially when you bring food!

RIP Jack Sparrow

Thanks for all the responses guys! I kind of made the whole thing as a joke, but subconsciously I really did want to do something nice for the fish because I did grow attached to him. He was a symbol of many things for me- so I appreciate all your compliments and well wishes! Cheesy

We are having a mini funeral this afternoon and burying him in his nice little casket.  Smiley

Cry Jack will be missed, I'm sure.
It's nice to see someone who thinks of fish as "real" pets, most people don't. :3
