Thank you, everyone!  in response to what the lotus is made of, they are neither foam nor felt.  Here is a picture of the templates I made:

The larger one, with three petals, is made of microsuede, which I had bought about 4 years ago.  It was just a remnant, about 4' long but only 11 inches wide.  I fused interfacing to the back and cut out 2 of the larger flower shapes, and one of the smaller.  The darker purple was a rayon blend that my sister had sent, I also used it for the lining of the wrap.  I cut out one of the smaller flower shapes, and stitched it together with the matching microsuede piece.  Then I sewed the darker purple piece onto the lighter one and started to bead.  After it was all beaded it was HEAVY, too heavy for the fabric to lay flat when worn, even with all the interfacing, so I glued a piece of extra stiff interfacing onto the back, with e6000, thus covering up all the bead stitches.  The neckpiece/choker thing is also the microsuede- its so very soft.

that fabric is the most beautiful fabric i've ever seen!!! i'd have been afraid to cut into such gorgeousness too!!!
