Never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line!!

I made this jewelry box/secret stash/altered paper mache book for the latest Princess Bride swap. It was probably one of my favorite swap item ideas. I wanted to do something a little out of the box to represent Vizzini and I just love the rich, over the top coat that he wears. How was I to incorporate that into something really different and fun, yet fully functional as well...? Well, I have a "thing" for altering boxes so I went to Joann's and bought a large paper mache book, some crushed velvet and went to town!

I stuffed the red velvet to give it some dimension...

Lucky for me I go to ren faires pretty often and just happened to have a ridiculous amount of gold trims sitting around at home...  Grin  Also, it's completely edged all  over in gold leaf paint - I really went overboard with the gold I think! lol

The inside is pretty simple but I didn't want to over do it and make it compete with the outside cover... just Vizzini's famous quote and some tan felt...

Great way to think outside the box about a box. I love how ornate the outside is. Cheesy

Elegant.  Dramatic.  Totally Vizzini.  I'm in love.  Great work!

It's perfect! I wish it were for me. <sigh>  Grin

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

A book truly worthy of everyone's favorite Sicilian. Let's just hope there won't be any iocane powder stored inside!
