I finally had an excuse to make up this dog pattern that I found in one of those old crafting books. The directions were just awful but I figured it out ok.

And here he is! Newman and his outfit are made of thrifted fabrics.

I hand stitched his shirt, it was too teeny weeny to get it onto the machine. I tweeked the pattern too, gave the sleeves some shape and added the collar which I think gives him just the right character. I cheated a bit though, the hems are cut from the actual hem of the people sized shirt I used to make his. The shoulder bag is hand stitched as well. My sister said it makes him look very metrosexual, ha ha.

The ducky is stitched by hand. It's cut out of printed fabric and backed with yellow flannel. It's really, really small, was it ever fun to turn Tongue.

The collar is the perfect touch. I really like the way he sits there looking like a cool student.

So this project was a request from a friend, he wanted to use it to propose to his girlfriend. He put her ring in the tiny bag & tied Newman to their dog's collar. She said yes, of course, who could resist 2 cute pooches & a diamond? My friend is pretty sweet too, there's that Wink.
Since that time both of our families have moved to & bought homes in the same town & now after a long time trying they've had a baby together. We were just by today with flowers & groceries & did a quick tidy up of the house for the very tired couple. I'm feeling pretty sentimental & nostalgic about dog stuffies. Maybe I should make another one for their little boy Smiley.
