Yay, first post here!

I'm a cross stitcher from back in the day - started when I was kid. Always loved sewing stuff - my whole family is crafty. My grandmother crochets, my mother quilts, and I stitch things. All fiber arts, lol. Knowing a Blackheart increases your chances of getting a crafted gift by 135%.

Anywho, this is the first project I worked on where I modified the design, and where I worked from a pattern that wasn't from a kit.

Its on 14ct aida, with some meh (not dmc or anchor) thread I picked up ages ago. It took about a month of intermittent stitching (I was in school, so I didn't have much time to work on it), but it was a fun project.

The logos were all designed by me. I kind of eyeballed them, and it was the first time I did anything like that.

It was finished by my mother and I using some quilting techniques - we tried to iron it onto the finishing felt they use for stiffening, but the aida wouldn't stick - so we sewed it together with the felt and a backing cloth, all inside out, and then flipped it. We left room at the top of the fabric to fold it over a tube which has a ribbon through it to hang it up.

I got the pattern from Gnat Kip on LJ, (http://gnatkip.livejournal.com/29500.html)  after I saw a finished sampler by Sailor Coruscant (http://www.sailorcoruscant.com/weblog/2009/04/except-little-fish.html) on the Craft magazine blog.

There are more close up detailed photos on my blog (http://blog.wendyblackheart.com/?p=32), but be warned, they're ginormous when you get to the full sized pictures. I'm using my parents computer and they have shitty photo editing stuff. Bleh.

This is one of the most awesome samplers I have ever seen Grin
