I've been making these from the book "Creepy Cute Crochet" and raffling them off to my students (I teach middle school, and although I never thought 12-year-olds would openly express a preference for crocheted amigurumi, I was wrong wrong wrong, and happy to be so!).  The Day of the Dead couple I'm giving to my coworker, who teaches Spanish Immersion.

Hope you like!

Oh, I ADORE the bride and groom!
I'd love them as decorations at my wedding, or even just around the house.

Thanks, you guys!   I feel so happy now.

I actually used the book's directions to make the eyes--I used Sculpey polymer clay.  There are also directions to make the weapons (scythe, spear) too.  I had some of my students make them toward the end of the year, if they were finished with their 8th grade projects (they made many jokes about my sweatshop, but they were happy to accept a creature).  I hot-glued the eyes on, but I've used safety eyes too.  Medusa has 9mm safety eyes.

oh thats great. i am guessing the students get a ticket if they are good? lol
great motivator.
my daughters favourite teacher was grade 2, he used to have a licence motivator at the start of the year.
he made up little licences with their pics, and when they had been good or done well they went up in the levels, they could use their special pacer or textas.
second semester he had a huge christmas hamper just like the ones you see in the big malls.
it was all kids $2 stuff lol but they had to win auction money to buy the things they want at the end of the year.
the kids really loved it.
maybe you could get the motivation flying like that and have a little end of year auction for xmas. then you would only have to make say 30 of these lol  Wink

^ That's exactly what I thought when I saw them!

These little guys are so adorable. Your students are really lucky. Smiley
By the way, I found the book on ebay. I'm thinking about buying it. Hehe.
