Oh man, a buffalo (bison?). I love those guys, and think that would be AWESOME on a Wild West themed towel! In fact, it makes me want a Wild West themed towel too - great theme as well.

It turned out great, j_q Smiley. When Andrea Zuill posted that pattern on her blog, I couldn't think where I'd use it. But my hubby would love some wild-west themed stuff, so I'm logging that away in my brain for Christmas -- great theme idea!!

Glenda!  I cant wait to see your geisha she looks absolutely stunning!  I love the inline stitching on the cherry blossoms.

ThirdMargaret!  Your cake looks great my short long stitch is often irregular but I kind of like it that way Wink

Jq the buffalo looks great and ha! I hate stitching in the middle of the towel especially if it is a big towel because I feel all claustrophobic and smothered.

Here is my design of doo_lerouxs towel.  The request for this towel was fish.  This was the only fish I have ever thought about stitching so I had it ready and waiting when the towel arrived.  The design is something I reformatted in photoshop from the scanned transfer that Claudia Marchan posted in Hoop Love http://www.flickr.com/photos/claudiamarchan/3511050710/

Im really pleased with my interpretation and the color; the back is not as clean as my usual style but I found the plants to be interpretive and when Im not working from specific lines I tend to get kind of sketchy with my floss.

For the scales I used a length of variegated orange (the stuff that doesnt change fast) and purposely arranged the color change to get the light yellow/orange in the middle. When I dont have the colors I want I always resort to variegated floss.  Incidentally the orange of the fish is floss from the Sublime bib kit (it is kind of odd (really twisty/corded) but once again it was the color I was after).

Oh and I also wanted to mention if you are looking for a design for this towel it is quite small so you might want to stay around the 5" by 5" range.

The bison is great!  I just got back from Yellowstone and really want to stitch one after seeing so many.  Love the smiley fish too.  Great colors!

j_q_adams- I LOVE him! And it's totally cool that you used the middle of the towel. I spent three days looking at it floundering for an idea to start it off with and it was just to much pressure for me. I'm really glad you didn't have the same problem that I did!

I dream of a house covered with your art, and would love a personal swap. Pm me if you'd like to spread the crafty love! I also need blue fabric scraps for a scrap quilt!
