I've been wanting a bright pink dress but I'm not usually a bright colors person so I haven't bought one. However, while shopping in the thrift store this week I discovered a bright pink monstrosity of a dress complete with shoulder pads and fake pockets. Sadly I did not take a before picture, but just envision a bright pink rectangle with shoulder pads, buttons down the front, and a high round neck and you've got the idea... Shape, fix sleeves, add some lace, and here's my second successful clothing recon! Yay!

The light pink is a cami under the dress.

Kinda blurry, but I like the shot.

An attempt to take a pic of the back.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking.
Its always a long story

It looks really nice on you, the shape is great. I can totally imagine the original, there always seems to be a few in every thrift store Tongue

Never underestimate the power of suggestion.

I am interested in personal swaps for fabric and quilting squares. PM me if you're interested!

I like the buttons on the front and the back!

this is great, I can totally see it in Urban Outfitters or something. (That's a compliment, I promise. ha)
I really like the buttons at the back, too!
Was it difficult to sew the bias-tape lace (or whatever you call it) around the neckline? I try to do that, and it always comes out puckery and weird.
Anyways, this is awesome!

Thanks! I had a lot of fun making this.

Pachydermia-- Urban outfitters is a guilty pleasure for me, so I took it as a compliment! The lace around the neckline doesn't look terrific up close. It doesn't pucker, but it doesn't really lie flat for long. I pretty much just pinned it twice as much as I thought it needed and sewed really slowly. This is only the third clothing item I've made, so there are many, many details that aren't finished nicely.

i love personal swaps. i'm looking to swap my art or paper crafts for some re-usable fabric snack bags, fabric sandwich wraps, fabric paper towels, glass pendants, ephemera, or art books.

Wow, thats really cute! Congrats on finding potential in something that would otherwise remain in the thriftstore for a while Cheesy
