I need some tips on how to make this:

I understand hte sleeves and what not.. but with the waist part, do I just sew elastic on the inside? Or should I take the two pieces apart, sew it together, then sew the elastic? Help!

p.s. I'm using an old men's button down to do this

I would ruche (sp?) the inside with a really light elastic.

So, I think I would measure the elastic around my waist, right? And then sew it on? (but have the elastic a little stretched).

Yes, measure the elastic around yourself where you want it to end up, then stretch it while you sew it down (remember to hold both the part behind the needle and in front of it or you can snap the needle).

I would make a casing with some twill tape, ribbon, or something, and thread elastic through it, if I were sewing it by hand.

I'd practice some methods on a thrift store shirt or two to get the idea right.
