I received this wonderful bag as a gift from my Mom this past weekend.  She created it using upholstery fabrics she bought on sale at Hancock Fabrics and wool fabrics she has collected over many years.  She is always on the look out for good wool and even buys old army blankets and wonderful old patterned wool clothing.  She loves wool.

The bag pattern is the Victoria Knitting and Sewing Tote Pattern from Sue Spargo.  And three birds template comes from Sue Spargos Mercer Lane Pattern Book. She said the pattern is very well done and the bag was a pleasure to make.

I love it and have posted more photos here: http://makeitdo.wordpress.com/2009/07/28/three-little-birds-bag/

Wonderful bag - lucky to have a mom to gift like that!  Checked out your blog and enjoyed your tutorials - I'll keep watching out for more!

You're a lucky girl!  That bag is beautiful.

I am trying to turn all of my non crafty friends and relatives into crafters. It's like a cult. I want everyone to become addicted to my obsessions!

I love the combinations of fabrics and buttons.  The tag she made for the inside (posted on the blog) was so sweet, makes me think of my mom.  Smiley

Your bag is no mere duplication of Victoria's.  Your mom has done a tremendous "riff" on that pattern which I like much, much better.  A masterly mod.  You're bound to get lots of complimentary comments.  I can see this selling at our artisans Xmas show quite easily.
