Oh right, I meant to also answer Kalanit - I think I'd go for a sexy librarian if I were you! It may not be something with exotic and special pieces, but to put it together properly takes care (just like one a costume student would have! Wink).

I agree that Alice has been done a lot (though yours sounds like a really cute version); and though I haven't seen many Cleo's, it's kind of "just a classic" costume.

Thanks guys. I think I will go with sexy librarian...I used to volunteer at libraries and my best guy friends tease me for looking like one; apparently all women with glasses and cardigans look like librarians? Ha. Anyway, thanks for the help, I will post my progress.

I love seeing everyone's progress! I've dropped out of this thread a bit, but I'm still trying to follow along. I haven't worked on my costume in a while though. I had to stop because of school projects and other sewing. I'm trying to get some stuff done to wear during the week of Halloween because I don't think I'm actually doing anything the day of. For my costume (which I've decided will be a zombie nurse) I still need to make a hat, tea dye the hat/skirts/blouse, then bloody it all up. I hope I actually get a chance to wear it  Undecided

Nice sexy librarian pic! I think Kalanit is going to have a great costume. Can't wait to see it! For some reason, all I can think of is the line from The Mummy "I...I am a librarian!"

N30Nb100d-Zombie nurse sounds pretty cool. I hope you have the chance to rock it!

I worked on my April O'Neil jumpsuit yesterday and it's almost done. So excited! I just need to put the top bit and bottom bit together, hem it, and make the special pockets that go on the pants.

And then my white belt cover and wrist band.

And the Ninja Turtles, of course.

I'm borrowing silky white long john bottoms to wear underneath, since the fabric is rather see-through-ish...

I'm going as Abby Sciuto from NCIS. I have a lab coat, spiky bracelets, goth choker, crazy boots, fishnets, homemade pleated tartan skirt, ripped iron maiden shirt, and I'm going to paint my nails black and dye my hair black and put it up in pigtails.

images for reference:

and this because I love McGee

oh and complete with homemade Caf-pow!

I'll post pics when I'm closer to being done.

Cool idea, heartofgold! Looking forward to seeing pics.

And... progress of my Harley Quinn, Arkham Asylum style (http://www.my360.com.au/img/gallery/normal/2YPQMJZQ.jpg)

I did recons on a top and a skirt. The top, before. Already a great shape...

After. I scooped the neck, trimmed the collar, and added black vinyl cuffs. I also did the black vinyl choker. (Pictures only from there because I was making a face and the stomach part of the shirt is MIGHTY snug - good thing it's getting covered with a "corset"!). I'll be wearing a purple push-up bra. Perhaps with duct tape on the bottom so I actually might have some cleavage.

The skirt -er... SKORT - before. Too long, and nasty. Scissors in picture for size reference.

The skirt, after. Mini'd, and blood spattered. And no more skort!

Still left:
- recon plastic mask
- make boot covers
- make "corset" (with "Boost-i-vest" Tutorial)
- dye smaller gloves purple
- make or buy nurse hat
- fix up German girl wig (currently it's braided blonde pigtails)

Still left for the Baron Samedi costume:
- skull cane. That's it!
